Keith Porter grew up on the family farm near Blissfield, MI and graduated from Blissfield High School in 1972.  After high school he attended Huntington College for 4 years as a music major.  While at Huntington College he dated and married his wife of 29 years, Jean (Wysong).

Pastor Keith and Jean have 3 married children and 3 grandchildren.  All three of their children and spouses are involved in Youth Ministries at their respective churches.

Keith owned and operated a guitar store in Huntington, IN for 12 years (1974-1986).  Keith & Jean worked with the youth at Union Church (non-denominational) in Huntington for 14 years (1977-86 as volunteers and 1986-91 as staff).  In 1991 Keith enrolled in Reformed Theological Seminary in Maitland, FL and graduated in 1994 with a Masters of Divinity degree.  While studying at seminary, Keith and Jean were youth leaders at the St. Cloud United Methodist Church. 

After graduation, Pastor Keith took the pastoral position at the Addison United Church (non-denominational) in Addison, MI.  While at Addison, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree at RTS.  Keith has had the privilege to sit under teachers such as R.C. Sproul, Steve Brown, George Barna, and such noted theologians as Ray Dillard, Elmer Smick, Walt Kaiser, and Richard Pratt; church leaders Leith Anderson, Tim Keller, Joel Hunter and Kent Hughes.

Jean has been a vital part of every job and ministry experience as Pastor Keith’s personal secretary, helpmate, lover, friend, and colleague in ministry.

            The Porters look forward to serving the people of the HFMC as well as the city of Hillsdale.
